Kerry’s Story

​

The Cleaning Fairy & Co started on a day where I just knew something had to change.

​

Life felt heavy at the time, and if I’m honest, quite overwhelming — like I was constantly trying to stay on top of everything but never quite getting there. The house, like everything else, had just become another thing on the list, and no matter how much I did, there always seemed to be something else waiting.

I remember thinking to myself, how has it got to this point?

​

Because your home is meant to be the place you switch off, not somewhere that adds to the pressure.

But at the same time, I also knew how different everything felt when it was properly done. When the house felt fresh, reset, and calm again — not just looking clean, but feeling it. It changes your whole mood walking through the door, and I think that’s something people don’t always realise until they experience it.

And that’s really where it all began for me.

It wasn’t some big business idea or a carefully planned out journey. It came from something much more real — recognising how many people were feeling exactly the same way. Busy lives, full schedules, constantly juggling everything, and living in homes that never quite felt finished, not because they didn’t care, but because there simply wasn’t enough time to stay on top of it all.

I realised this wasn’t just something I’d noticed… it was something people genuinely needed.

So I started The Cleaning Fairy & Co with one simple aim — to take that pressure away and give people back that feeling of walking into a home that just feels right.

​

I didn’t have everything figured out in the beginning. There were no perfect systems or polished processes, just a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a genuine care for the homes I was working in. And over time, that’s what everything has been built on.

​

A few years earlier…

I didn’t set out with a big plan to build a business, and I certainly didn’t have everything figured out. There was no perfect setup or clear roadmap, just a natural instinct to clean, to organise, and to bring a space back to that feeling where everything feels right again.

​

I always noticed how much of a difference that made, not just to how a home looked, but to how it felt to be in it — calmer, clearer, and somehow just more manageable. Over time, I started to realise that this wasn’t just something I noticed, it was something people genuinely needed, because so many people are juggling so much, and the home is often the thing that quietly gets pushed to the bottom of the list.

So I just Started..

Nothing perfect, nothing polished, just getting out there, working hard, learning as I went, and doing things properly, and slowly, without really forcing it, things began to grow.

As I spent more time in people’s homes, I started to see the bigger picture. It was never just about cleaning, it was about the pressure people were under, the constant feeling of trying to stay on top of everything, and that quiet frustration of never quite feeling “done”. And then I saw the shift — that moment when everything had been taken care of and someone could just walk into their home and breathe.

That’s the moment that stayed with me..

 because it’s not just about the clean, it’s about what that gives back to you — your time, your headspace, and that sense of calm where everything just feels a little bit easier.

We’ve been quietly caring for homes across North Devon, building relationships, becoming part of people’s routines, and creating homes that feel consistently looked after rather than something you’re constantly trying to catch up with, and many of our clients now say they simply wouldn’t be without it.

I’m incredibly proud of what that’s become — not just a business, but something people rely on week after week.

There have been challenges along the way, of course, moments where things felt overwhelming, where I questioned things, and where I wasn’t entirely sure how it would all work out, but I kept going, I kept learning, and I stayed focused on what really mattered — helping people feel better in their homes.
